You have the following opportunities of relaxing and spending your holiday in Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve.

1. Argali Photo Safari
The main habitat of the Argali is Mt Baits. As the picturesquel mountain is in the specially protected zone of the Nature Reserve, the Argali are so calm and not really frightened of people and domestic animals that badly, and it is really a big chance for us to observe and photograph them from the closest distance. You can walk or ride horses for 2 km from the ger camp to the observing point to see the amazing animals graze and play peacefully. High quality telescopes and binoculars are available for renting at the ger camp from the Community Association.

2. Bird watching and photographing
You can travel by walking, horse or yak cart from Steppe Nomads Ger Camp to Lakes Ikh-Gun, Ayaga and Ayaga Oasis for 5-6 km for birding and photographing waterbirds including some endangered rare species such as White-naped Crane, Siberian Crane, Hooded Crane, Common Crane, Black Stork and Whooper Swan.
Specially prepared observing points with telescopes and binoculars are there for you. For prey birds, you can travel by walking, horse back riding or yak cart to Mt Baits and Berkh and watch and photograph Golden eagle, Falcons, Vultures and many more.

3. Boat sailing and bird watching at lakes

It is a great opportunity to sail with boat and watch birds at Lake Ayaga and Ikh Gun at the same time. You can travel to the lakes by horse, camel or car, or yak and horse cart. Also hiring a guide or a cook, renting tents and camping equipments are also available from the ger camp if you want to spend some days of your holiday for a perfect relaxing.

4. Boat Sailing, Fishing and Bird watching in the River Kherlen
You have a great opportunity to do bird watching, fishing and photographing while sailing by a boat in the River Kherlen. You can pick a guide or a cook with all necessary camping equipments from Gun Galuut Ger camp and spend as many days in the wild and untouched nature as you please. It will be an unforgettable trip to travel to the beginning of the River Kherlen by a car, horse, camel or a yak cart and start sailing, fishing, birding as well as photographing till the Ger Camp.

5. Fishing
You can fish at a place with a sign “Fishing Allowed” along the River Kherlen it doesn’t matter if it is only 300 m from Gun Galuut Ger Camp or at the beginning of the River Kherlen which is 90 km from the Ger Camp. The River Kherlen is rich in fish, such as Taimen – The King of Rivers, Lenok (Brachymystax lenok), Amur pike (Esox reicherti), Burbot (Lota lota), Amur dase (Leuciscus waleski) and Flathead asp (Pseudaspius parva) and many more.
Rent everything you need from us and travel by car, horse or camel and fish for these fish for some days.

6. Horse Riding

The area of Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve is more convinient for horse back riding than other places as the soil is harder and less holed by mice. You can ride horses and go to view argali wild sheep and other wild animals and birds, or gallop along Genghis Khaan’s birthplace and steppes, and travel for some days to some historic sites connected to Genghis Khaan and his warriors. Booroljuut Mineral Springs, 25 km from Gun-Galuut is a good place for horse riding too.

7. Horse, Camel and Yak Cart Travels
One of the classic transportations of Nomads is cart. It is a real fun to experience travelling by a cart pulled by horse, camel or yak. You have opportunities to travel by them and enjoy the wilderness and the nature beauty of the Nature Reserve while viewing world famous Argali wild sheep, endangered birds and other wild animals.

8. Hiking

We organize hiking trips with specially designed itineraries that includes Mt. Baits and Berkh or Lakes Ayaga to view Argali and Ikh-Gun to view waterbirds and many other interesting places. Along the routes you can rest at awnings with cute rocken stools and tables.

9. Visit and Homestay at Nomadic Family
Nomadism is one of the highlights of Mongolia with its rich and ancient culture and traditions. It is an awesome chance to visit or make homestay at a nomadic family to get some knowledge of their unique way of life, how they tend their livestock and make their living and how they inherit their wonderful traditions and cultures to their young generation. If you want you can even ride a horse and herd sheep herds, milk cows and goats also mares, tend horses, catch foals with long sticks, make traditional Mongolian clothes, make horse riding equipments such as bridles, saddles and hobbles and take part in their everyday life activities and live like a nomad for a few days.
